Stereo original volvo
My radio cassette has died in my 740 turbo. I have the seperately graphic equeliser that sits below the stereo so ideally I want the standard size original head unit.
Thanks. Jon 07919897509 |

I am referring to the CR-702 radio cassette above. Thanks.

What appears to be not working; the tape deck or the radio (there's also a separate amplifier under the dash above the drivers right knee)? I might have a few bits from several CR-702's in the garage somewhere, but I don't think a complete working one. I will have a look over the weekend.

Thanks Bob. Quite simply the small PCB on the left as you remove the upper casing has failed and I snapped it playing about! Therefore, I could try and connect a replacement board I suppose but fiddly.
See what you have lying around, much appreciated. I don't want to merely buy a Halfords £50 head unit but retain the authenticity of the original. Jon |

Yes .. I reckon I have some with that board, but haven't had a chance to look yet. That board with its pre-amp section is where my problem arose, and I didn't have time to fiddle further! Who knows whether any of my sub-boards work or not .... because ....
.... then .... I walked into Aldi and they had an 'all singing and dancing' headset reduced to £39 with cd/sd/usb/bluetooth/isocket etc etc, that I couldn't resist! T'was the best 'easy listening' buy I made, and just slotted into my 745 (with a fascia change plate, plus an easy fit 'Autoleads' connector to link to the loom and by-pass the original amplifier). However, fully understand what you mean about originality (I will always keep one). Will try and get back to you by PM asap. |

You could send it off to Central Services in Ipswich , they were the people who repaired volvo exchange radios from the 70's until the 90's . and still going strong ...

I have had a chance to have a look today and regret that I have only got 'bits and pieces' and I guess that they don't work as clearly I have been fiddling with them in the past. I reckon Clan's suggestion is the best option. Cheers, Bob.
