Default Load levellers and rear spring options

Well, Summer is reluctantly starting and thoughts turn to long, laden, family trips in the old 265.
I have some load levellers scavenged from a long dead 245 we owned years ago.
Do the springs need changing to fit them? Thinner or thicker? I have a spare old pair with blue paint marks but these look the same dia as the originals.
Or does it make no real difference.
At the moment the rear suspension is soggy and it bottoms out the mudflaps when laden in true estate fashion. Kids/dogs/luggage, as they were designed to do.
I'm hoping the load levellers will stop this. Not planning on towing by the way.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim.
