Default Cruise control-turning itself off& front end creaking

Hi,

Just back from a 1500 mile round trip today. Cruise control has developed a mind of it's own and now decides when to cancel the set speed. No need to press brake pedal or cancel. Anyone any knowledge or advice

I feel somewhat suspicious as it's not long had the my2010 power steering recall completed and I'm not sure the steering wheel wasn't off.

Also front nearside creaking and groaning under braking and turning at low speed junctions.... Volvo couldn't fnd anything wrong when it was in for the recall......but it's getting more noticeable/annoying....any ideas???

Regards

I had the groaning noise too under braking and turning at low speed. I took it to Volvo, they lifted it up and had a look around and couldn't find anything wrong.

I then took it out for a drive with the chief mechanic to show him. The noise had gone away. I can only assume that as they were looking, they must have moved something. I suggested that a brake pipe might have been moved, as when a flexible pipe is pressurised, it can move and thats when it may have then touched something and then caused the noise.

The chief mechanic did look on the Volvo computer system for previous fault history elsewhere and it turned out that there was. He ordered the mod kit and fitted it next time I was in the area. The fault has not recurred.

Good luck..

Thanks for the replies. Had a look at the threads re cruise control.....not quite the same problem but given me an idea re the brake pedal switch possibly faulty. I too mentioned the creaking to Harratts when the car had the recall and they could not find anything wrong...... We'll see what if anything they do this time. What was the mod you had done?

Regards

A previous car I had suffered a similar problem.

It was caused by some corrosion in the rear light cluster momentarily "shorting" the brake light when I indicated left after overtaking.
