Personally I think this topic is great, it's light hearted fun and never too serious.

You see some really interesting cars up for sale that are overpriced as well as cars that sell for more than expected.

Last year the car I own was posted and I'm sure everyone thinks I'm still drinking the funny water as I own the Rustberg and a Amazon which has a similar amount of rust.

Enthusiasts can see the funny side of most things but also wonder why a base model is worth way too much because a seller thinks it's rare. Just remember this topic is called seriously. Don't take anything to heart.

I don't think the lack of MoT history is anything to worry about - I don't bother having GAM (or my CB200) tested, that is part of the point of running historic vehicles.

I wonder how much the seller wants for it - I'm thinking something like 5 grand would be okay.

The Amazon VWW auction is going very well, it is already at £6,350 with a day to go (but still hasn’t met its reserve). I think that is quite a good price, but there are 9 bidders already, so it may well make a bit more yet. I hope the seller hasn’t set a daft reserve.

The Amazon VWW auction ended up at £6,650 without the reserve being met. That sounded like a fair price to me, but obviously the seller thought it was worth more.

This 240 is slightly interesting:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186497925...mis&media=COPY

… so it is a non-historic registered 240 GL saloon with a few gaps in its history (maybe a few rests under the apple tree) but low recorded mileage - maybe it has only done 45,000 miles in 34 years? I don’t suppose we will ever know.

The seller thinks it is worth £8,500 (which I doubt) but is entertaining bids from £6,500. I wish the seller well, but to be candid I’d say it is somewhat less good than The Barge (which had the tax and ULEZ exemption advantages of an historic car) and made 6 grand last year. I’ll keep an eye on this one, my feeling is that it probably won’t get much interest at £6,500… but I’d be pleased to be proven wrong.

Certainly an interesting one Alan, it falls properly into that grey area where it's not yet historic and won't be for another 5-6 years but if the mileage is genuine, i can see someone snapping it up as a usable daily classic.

Cheaper and more interesting than a 2005 Mondeo or similar and likely to hold its value as well.
