I can't edit my post, so apologies for the double post.

I don't seem to be able to get Lucas from parts shops. I can only get it online. However, I did come across some Wynn's stuff that has the same description as the Lucas one, more or less.

Its called "Wynns Automatic Transmission and power steering stop leak and conditioner".

Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Wynns product so can't endorse it.

I have the Lucas in the '99 V70 which had a slight leak around the pinion, when I first got it, plus it also got rid of the flat spots I was experiencing. It's remarkable stuff. They even offer a promise of your money back if it doesn't work.

You can add a bottle to existing clean fluid, just pull out enough from the reservoir and top up with the Stop Leak or you could go the whole hog and drain and completely fill the system with the product.

I don't know how accessible the power steering pump was on the older shape V70's, but its around 3 and a half hours labour in a garage to remove/install a new pump on a P3. The labour is as dear as the aftermarket pump.

Yes, the pump reinstall on 850 is very simple... One other thing was that it was better to refurbish the original pump, than to buy the cheaper aftermarket one...

And the labour here is not that dear (yet) ...

I got a price from a local parts place too. They have a Shaftec pump available at around £240 (next day delivery). There's a £15 surcharge if you just buy the pump without returning your old one though.

Apec is another one they stock for around £240 with no surcharge.

Anyone heard of these brands? I've heard of Apec.
I'd stick with the Meyle because multiple people on this forum have installed the Meyle pump, you are gambling with other random brands.

Autodoc prices are including VAT so no customs to pay on arrival

But you can get the meyle pumps on ebay uk as well

I thought it was worth a try. I went to Halfords and purchased a bottle of the Wynn’s stop leak and conditioner for transmissions and power steering. I then sucked the fluid out of the reservoir with a turkey baster and filled the reservoir with the Wynn’s product to the max level. It says on the website that this stuff is safe to use with Dextron 3, which is the spec fluid for my car before they brought out the newer CHF 11S stuff which is basically green dextron 3 anyway. I figured what’s in the reservoir isn’t what’s in the whole system anyway. There’s bound to be more fluid trapped inside, so you can’t really “overfill” it by just filling to the max line on the reservoir.

I don’t know whether this is simply a placebo effect, but the steering already feels lighter and I’ve only done a couple of miles. Only time will tell, but it was worth a shot for the sake of an £8 product.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind.

Haha. I’m not going to go to that extent. It says on the bottle that 50ml treats 1L of fluid. Its a 325ml can, so one can is enough me thinks (that’s equates to 6.5L of fluid).

I don’t know how much the whole system holds exactly, but its definitely more than you put in the reservoir.

I’ll see how it goes. Needs more miles to go through the system properly.

I appreciate the help though. Thank you.
