Default EGR Cooler Bypass Issue - Code P245A

Hi folks. After a few issues with a replacement engine I've had 2 great years with my 09 Xc90 2.4 d5. In particular I've been amazed to be getting over 40mpg regularly - combination of old man driving and the car just being very economical for its size.

However recently my fuel consumption dropped overnight to around 30mpg. I then suffered intermittent limp mode and now constant power loss. The car still drives but instead of coasting uphill in 5th I'm down to 2nd and sometimes 1st!

Error codes from my Aldi OBD2 reader regularly throws up P245A - EGR Recirculation Cooler Bypass Control Circuit Open. Sometimes the EML comes on, mostly it is off though.

Anyone had this issue? Checked wiring and looks ok - have cleaned EGR and the flap seems to be working. Engine revs freely and idles perfectly - in fact it has never sounded smoother.

Anything else I should be checking? Next step is to book it in to my. local Volvo Indy specialist.

Many thanks in anticipation!
