Volvo Extended Warranty – only available up to 4 years max?

Hi All

I just recently purchased the ‘Volvo Extended Warranty’ for 4 year/60,000 miles, from Volvo UK. From the wording today on the Volvo UK site it appears that Volvo has now stopped offering warranties beyond year 4 – is this correct? If yes, where will people be able to go for year 5, 6…?

In the past with my MY11 XC90, after year 3, I received a warranty renewal email and card letter in the post, from the Volvo Warranty Admin, inviting me to purchase a warranty renewal for my Volvo, for a further 12 months. This purchasing option was offered each year up until the car was over 10 years old.

Below is what Volvo UK used to email me each year (before email it was a paper based card via the post). I always paid for a year as it worked out a bit cheaper than monthly. It did this every year up the year 10 which was the maximum years this warranty renewal could be offered to purchase, then sold the car.

Out of interest, are these extended Volvo warranties available only to a certain mileage?

My warranty would typically expire at 2.5 years old due to mileage - I know some brands only offer extended up to 80000 miles for example, so I've never bothered.

Funny, I just emailed them this morning to ask how much to extend into year 5.
Mines due in October but Id like to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

I extended by a year at year 4, cost around £480 as I recall.

I cant see why they wouldnt offer an extension to year 5…..if not, it doesn't show any confidence in their product does it?

If they wouldnt offer year 5 I will be moving to another brand……

***** update….just came off the phone with them….year 5 extension isnt an issue. Im too soon as its due in October, the earliest I can renew is in August. I asked for a cost (they told me prices are subject to change as you would imagine)…..if I was renewing now….5th year warranty for my 2020 R Design Pro mild hybrid petrol would be £570.

I’m beginning to wonder if there are a number of different warranty products available once the standard 3 year warranty is finished.

I’ve taken a guess at what options may be available to purchase:

1. Volvo Extended Warranty – Purchase option available online to extend the period and mileage limit of the standard 3 year/60,000 mile warranty for a 4th year. This is a one-off option for year 4 only if you read the Volvo web page below

2. Volvo Warranty – Email Invitation sent by Volvo Warranty Admin each year with the option to purchase a Volvo indorsed parts and labour warranty for years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Offer to purchase on a year by year basis
   
3. Volvo Selekt Warranty – available to purchase for second hand cars

The option I had purchased for my old XC90 for ten years was Option 2.

I'll give my dealer a call tomorrow to question him on this.

Interested in this. I have been adding a year to the warranty since car was 3 years old now on my 3rd renewal. Always agonise over whether to bother will be good if Volvo make that decision for me.

My XC90 is 8 years old next month, I have had my warranty renewal sent to me, obviously it goes up each year as the car ages, £970 this year, it was around £750 last year. Think I will take the monthly payment option this year 10 × £97 , l had repairs done under warranty over the last few months, wish bone, track rods, coolant sensor, turbo air induction pipe, EGR pipe, which would have cost way more than the warranty.
