Old Volvo dealer logos - for reproduction number plate

You could just get a couple of the cover caps for the screws and stick them onto the plate in the right location.
My recollection of my 940 was that the screws rusted and left that nasty stain around the hole, then when I replaced the rear plate the rusty screw had made such a mess of the tailgate i ended up drilling holes away from the original location and using self tappers, mine was a tatty runaround but for a nice car sticking them on would seem a good idea.

What a great idea, best of both worlds, also this way would allow me to make sure when positioning that the false caps miss the digits.

Sticking acrylic plates to the car is the best thing since sliced bread... Most of the unreadable number plates seen are due to the water getting in between the two surfaces of the plates and causing the damage. I've had the same number plate of 5 different cars now over the past 23 years, they still look new and no sign of deterioration and that's because they have no holes drilled into them.

To have the 'bolt on look' I would suggest drilling the outer acrylic layer part of the way through (about 1.5mm) using a large enough drill bit to create a good size dimple in the surface and taking great care not to go through to the next layer. This will make a perfect spot to put a blob of epoxy resin. For the bolt I would use a plastic bolt head and leave a very small nipple on the back of the head and that would fit into the dimple. I would doubt it would ever come off if done properly

My 850 tailgate has never had bolt on plates and under where the plate sits is like new. I've seen plenty 850s that are rotten in that area

To resurrect this thread, I now have a set of Gaulds of Glasgow plates for my 850 TDI. I need to get some paintwork done on the car before I fit them but all successful.

Now onto my C70 coupe. This was sold new from Riverside Volvo in the year 2000 - does anyone have images of the Riverside Volvo logo from this period? For reproduction plates to be made up. Using DMB Graphics, very impressed with their service.
