Idling speed too high then drops if accelerator blipped.
Hello,
Mydiesel 2.4 TIC 1984 940 estate is running fine, as it always has (some suspension vibration problems excepted). After I have been driving, if I bring the car to a halt the engine revs stay at about 1200 - 1300 rpm. If I then blip the accelerator, most times the revs drop to a more normal idling speed - about 800 rpm. What should I check to correct this? It feels as if some throttle part is staying too far open and is not being correctly returned by a spring. (Just guessing and saying what it feels like to me.) Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Martin |
