Turbo not working P004C code
Hi,
Xc60 2.4 and 2013 model. Car in limp mode , tortoise on dash. Can't hear turbo cutting in at all. Getting this code P004C(00) [0x004C00] Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control "B" Circuit Low. Garage has quoted 2400 to replace both turbos and actuators. Said its a big job having to drop subframe. Could it be somehing else at fault, can't really afford that amount. |

Quoted after diagnostic? Or quoted after just giving them a code and they've said as a worst case scenario?

They quoted after diagnostic. I'm getting a 2nd opinion though. 2nd garage says it's not the turbo as there's no vacuum in the pipes so letting them check it first

Hopefully it was a decent diagnostic (Volvo dealer/independent) ? I believe earlier cars did/do have vacuum operated turbo vanes, however I think it likely that your car will have electrically operated ones.

Car is now fixed. Cost 130 euros not 2400 euros.
It was a broken cable on the loom. Mechanic said the cable had corroded and broke. Insulation had a small hole in it, let water in, copper had corroded and snapped. Plus, the air con had not been working and is now. Electrics eh? Last edited by peelaaa; Jun 8th, 2024 at 20:02. |

So car went in limp mode again.
Mechanic said it was the oil pressure solenoid. It was intermittently faulty blowing a fuse that was related to the air con going off and limp mode on. That broken cable was broken due to it burning out and not moisture. Solenoid replaced. All working again. Last edited by peelaaa; Jun 14th, 2024 at 21:15. |
