Default RE: Diesel Alternatives for the B30 engine

The post'93 D24TIC would make a particularly good installation in the 164. It can be tuned easily with similar gains as an electronically controlled diesel. You may need to use the D24 bellhousing but could mate it with an automatic or manual gearbox (ZF4HP22 auto; M90 five speed manual). You will no doubt have the doubters trying to tell you what a dog the D24 is, usually because they have only got hearsay backing not factual for their opinions. We have around 100 diesel versions on the 700/900/90 register alone and most of the owners are quite satisfied with their choice. It has more torque than the B30. Possibily the BMW 3Litre turbo intercooled diesel would be very much better but can you afford one?

All the best, Peter.
