Yes I've done my timing belts and have all the tools to do it.
The timing marks are very vague so I made my own before taking the old belts off. It's a bit of a hassle but not difficult. When it came to timing the pump my marks were about 1mm retarded and she didn't want to start. I moved it to 1mm advanced and it was fine. As the belt settled it tends to move retarded so after a few miles I rechecked it and moved it advanced a bit.
Whereas before it smoked on hard acceleration, now there is almost no smoke and on the last MOT passed the test with flying colours whereas the previous one only just passed. Fuel consumption on a run is 50+, tank to tank, so I must have got it right.
If you want to borrow the tools you'r welcome for the cost of postage; to Linconshire it was about £5, not sure for Skye.
Regards.
No I haven't had any codes read as I haven't had no symptoms come up and as a Scot object to paying dealers fees to connect to a laptop for two mins.!!!!
