Just spotted this thread. Had I seen it earlier then I'd have been able to suggest that it might be a faulty ABS sensor, as the same thing happened with my wife's V60. Sorry I missed it.
What I took away from the experience was that Volvo really needed to have done more testing of their software prior to manufacture. After all, it's clear that ABS sensor failure isn't that uncommon.
