I have a V40 now too and mine disables the stop start if the battery isn't fully charged. Generally if it has been sat to the week or so.

The wipers are odd and not sure where to go from there but wonder if something got dislodged or disconnected when they were doing the gearbox?

One thing I have learnt from working on my various Volvo's has been they are super sensitive when it comes to the battery. I was doing some work on my old C30 last year and the battery went flat. The number of faults I got was crazy. I ended up getting a dice unit and vida from a forum member and also had to send off the srs module for a reset to fix it.
