Can only assume there are different versions for RHD cars? My trusty garage have tried having the motor reconditioned but it’s essentially sealed. The car is equipped with manual A/C. I’ve tried everywhere to find a a direct replacement, to no avail. Any advice or source of apparently hens teeth motors much appreciated!
I'm not 100% sure on the 1986 760GLE but i believe the same fan was used in my 88 GLE, in which case the motor from a later 940 can be fitted (should have three mounting holes) and there is likely to be short length of loom than can be unplugged which reverses the motor direction.

If buying a secondhand 940 fan motor, it will come with the fan blade on it. This is a tight push fit onto the motor shaft and i had to put my old (and replacement) fan motors in the vice and used a pair of 2' tyre levers, one each side, to lever the fan blade off so i could fit my original fan blade to the replacement motor.

Cars without A/C usually have a different sort of mounting on the motor and are mounted horizontally whereas the A/C cars seem to have it mounted vertically.
