Default Tyres - mixing different front to rears?

So i have used the 'national' tyres autogreen Super sport chaser SSC5 on my car, around £70 a corner and seem to be good enough, I only do around 10k a year and dont need high performance tyres for the heavy estate and the fronts are probably just over 2 years old and just shy of 20+k miles so plenty of use from a £70 tyre.

However checking again as i may need to replace the fronts due to the 2 edges on each tyre wearing quite a lot now (underinflated? but all set to Volvo pressure). The SSC5 doesnt appear to be available nowadays in the size (215/50 r17 95w).

The question is, does using different tyres on the front and the rear make any difference with a heavy mid-range power estate?

I would probably be looking to replace with either the Smart Caser SC1 or the All Season S2 for the fronts, (undecided anyone else her use these?) but they are different patterns to what i have on the rear.
