We're all guilty of it but running low is bad for the car,

What it does is put wear on things like the lift pump in the tank as fuel moves from side to side cornering or parked on a camber, it's bad for dpf's, drags tank sludge into injectors, in the trade it's known as irregular supply,


As for range it depends on use, if you're using it out of the urban it might say 80 miles where a city only use could say 25 miles, it's all relevant to it's conditions of the last 50 miles or so.
