A3/B4 oil should never be used unless it is also certified to conform to A3/B3 as well. As per my above post, B3 is certified for use in high performance petrol engines, B4 is certified for use in performance diesel engines. Whilst many full synthetics are certified to conform to both B3 and B4, there are some that are
not. Check, check check on the can what the oil is certified to.
