If that was a 2.4 5-cyl then it would have been an LT mk2 (sister vehicle to the Sprinter mk1). The LT mk1 used the same VW straight 6 (also 2.4) as the Volvo 700/900's we are talking about here - Volkswagen/Audi never actually used this engine in any passenger cars of their own, only the smaller 1.6 4-cyl and 2.0 5-cyl that were all part of the same modular family.
