Could it be the pressure release bearing in the bell housing! Does it disappear when you put your foot on the clutch?

Also as the gearbox has the overdrive I believe the oil wants to be a bit thinner than 20w50 I have read that 10w30 is a better choice, but to be honest it might not make too much difference!
