Replying to an old post but - the garages contract with the insurer may change how they behave - but the OP had a contract with the Garage, not the insurer. And he was successful in going to court and getting a judgment against the garage, not the insurer. I was quite surprised it got this far, it seemed a clear cut case, usually these get mutually resolved in the days before the court date.
Now the next part starts - he won't necessarily get his money straight away - they may pay up or they may be awkward. If it's the latter, the OP has to apply for a bailiffs warrant....
