for anyone that is interested:
I cleaned the ETM with a bit of carb cleaner and now it purrs at 800/850 without a blip!
I'm have done odd jobs in the past and had a few old cars but I am still very amateur and a bit slap-dash and I found it took me around 2 hours without rushing at all.
-remember to take plenty of pictures
-buy a replacement gasket
-buy some small cable ties to re attach the wiring conduit
-count how many plugs you disconnect (i didn't so had to spend a few minutes checking there was nothing loose!)
-be careful of damaging the radiator!
Mine had a white sticker on it - doesn't that mean its the original? as the mileage is 127Kish this seems to have lasted a good while! I will probably look at going contactless when it starts to go, and I am happy that I can get to the unit and I have an solder-compatible freind who will do the magic bits for me!
