And MB have cleverly continued this trend ever since. Example from my E Class ownership (3 cars) from 2006 to 2018: The suspension was superbly engineered and was silent in use no matter what. The accountants compensated for this by making sure at least some of the internal trim moved noisily on its clips over the smallest road imperfections, ruining refinement at a stroke. Don't get me started on all the other quality faults..... My two S90s have been a stark contrast, thank goodness.
