Many thanks Bob - that's incredibly helpful, and noted for when I get around to both those jobs. I am thinking that I will need to drain the old fluid from the power steering system as it is so old & contaminated. Also, I didn't even realise that the gearbox had a separate oil supply (as I say, this is a steep learning curve for me!) but I have checked that out in the manual and that all looks straightforward to me. I fear I may have a leak somewhere around the gearbox housing, but will address that in time!
