Default how to change oil trap procedure

hi,

just finished replacing the oil trap this morning and it took about 1.5hrs. not to bad but very fiddly.

Before starting :

1.ensure that the new oil-trap comes with a rubber washer as per the pic attached , mine didn't so I had to source one locally.

2. Ensure you have your radio code to hand as the battery will be disconnected

The procedure:

1. using Tipex or paint put an alignment mark between the bellows and the metal body to provide a realignment mark once the work is completed.

2.disconnect battery + lead and HT spark lead from the Coil.

3. disconnect air intake pipe to throttle body.

4.remove any other cable obstructions to give you clear access to the full CI-Mechanism.

5.Loosen the jubilee clips retaining the bellows and remove bellows.

6. place a clean cloth over the plate to prevent any debris falling into it.

7. loosen the 13mm nut on the left hand side of the CI unit and the two on the right hand side (one nearer the wing and the other behind it nearer the block).

8. gently manipulate the CI unit out of its supports and using Tie-wraps support it up out of the way to give you access to the oil-trap behind.

9. Loosen the two 13mm bolts holding the oil-trap in place and remove . There is little space to undo the bolts so be patient ;-(.

10. Install the new oil-trap and tighten down.

11. Disconnect cable-ties and lower Ci-mechanism back into the support bracket and tighten up the nuts.

12.remove the cloth and re-install the bellows ensuring the alignment marks are in place.

13. reconnect Coil HT lead and Battery + cable

Job done.

hope this helps
