Default 2004 D5 high fuel rail pressure

Hi, my trusty V70 is giving trouble. I’ve got the “urgent engine service required “ message, and P00088 code. The engine starts but is VERY noisy (knocking). The problem disappeared after a fuel filter change last week then returned a couple of days ago. I cleared the code and all was well, fuel pressure good, until this morning, noise, message and 2k rpm limit all returned. The fuel pressure was 180000(kph?) then after about 30 seconds running it cleared and is fine. However I expect it to return tomorrow morning. Is there a pressure relief valve, or something similar on the fuel rail that’s perhaps sticking? If so is it on the passenger end, the banjo bolt arrangement thing?
I’ve searched the Diesel engine forum for about ten pages and not found a similar problem but I’m sure I can’t be the first. Please HELP.
