I think the 140 and 160 chassis rails are the same width. But there are longer in a 164; the wheelbase is 100mm more, all of which is ahead of the bulkhead. I believe it's that which makes the angles wrong for a 164 steering box used in a 140.
Qulte few 165 conversions have been built over the years, but this seems to the only one Volvo ever did.

Lex Brooklands made a few in the UK as well, again not Gothenburg, but they were the official importer. In that instance I belive they started with some complete flood damaged cars. I seem to remember it was either 3 or 5 cars they did.
