When you talk of the EGR becoming clogged - are we more accurately saying the EGR heat exchanger is prone to clogging. This was the problem with the Volvo I4 D4 engine no? The heat exchanger clogging, too narrow vanes (if right term). Required to run on higher grade diesel.

Fixing an EGR issue, by deleting the component is illegal in UK. Assume we are talking about the UK. Further more, it does not fix the issue. It would be akin to saying my passenger side mirror has stopped working. It's ok, I removed it altogether and blanked it off. It hasn't fixed the issue of the mirror not working. Now the car is illegal as a result.
