I'd be surprised if the trailing arm bushes were unique to Volvo.
They are not . They are Ford Mondeo bushes . I havent heard of any problems with the Mondeo but the V70 is heavier and Ford , Who owned Volvo when the P3 V70 was designed just got it wrong trying to save a few bob.

There are various after market bushes available for the V70 . I fitted the genuine Volvo replacements when I had my V70 . They came with some plastic covers filled with a sealant to be fitted after the bush is inserted into the arm . Its supposed to stop any water and rust accelerating the de-lamination of the rubber from the out steel part of the bush . Mine were still good four years later.
This is a well known documented failing on the V70 . Could it be put into the "STICKY" section ?
