You may well be correct but I have also read that all recent Volvos have some form of active noise reduction.
I couldn't think of any other reason why my 2020 D4 is so much quieter than my 2017 D5. It's got bigger wheels (for now) and the same engine, give or take the dreaded PowerPulse. Mind you it still sounds like a tractor if you open a window....
