I have a used car warranty which runs out next month and I'm using an independent Volvo specialist so we'd like to get sorted ASAP.
My guy says he just doesn't see any excessive oil consumption issues come up on these engines and although it's largely within the Volvo "acceptable amount" there's something not right.
Unfortunately the consumption isn't a warranty claim in itself so we need to be finding the cause, at this stage we don't want to be tearing the engine down in case we find nothing.
The garages master tech is back on Wednesday so we're going to discuss where we go from here.
Just curious as to whether anyone else has had issues? I'm reading a few relating to the earlier D5s but not sure if they'd be applicable to my engine.

Cheers!
Are you sure the crankcase ventilation system is clear and not building up pressure ?
No they are not prone to this problem
OR headgasket failures ... the head gasket is a composite one made up of thin stainless steel sheets .
