Who ever told you that was either thick or lying.
You need to get the car scanned for fault codes and reset to clear the check engine light, it is possible it will go out itself IF the fault that caused it to come on is fixed. As for service interval you can reset that using the controls in the car, see

Radio should be a simple swap out using an ISO converter cable, you generally need the surround panel as well or the dash ends up with holes in it - Mike
