Hiya Minty. That's my carb! For a 1986MY it should be a Pierburg 2B5 with part number 1317036 (from memory!). The part number should be stamped on an aluminium tag if it hasn't been removed. There were some other carbs fitted to 700 series cars such as the Pierburg 2B7, which was fitted to B230Ks from 1987 onwards.

James, I also fitted a Weber carb a few years ago and it packed up within a year! The manual choke also destroyed the plastic trim near the steering wheel. So, I replaced all the main valves, diaphragms, and auto-choke on the Pierburg and then sent it off to Gower & Lee for a complete overhaul. It works fine now and looks almost as good as new. The total cost of rebuilding (parts I bought plus overhaul) would be about £300ish IIRC.
