Fit winter or all-seasons if you want to play in the snow, but even then you're at the mercy of other drivers.
4WD will get you going on the flat, but you're then in a two-tonne brick with pretty much zero control.
With winter tyres the D5 is an awesome snow monster provided the snow isn't deeper than the front bumper. I had winters on 20 inch wheels on mine and it was like there was no snow at all.

I can't afford new alloys or tyres at the minute otherwise I would.
The cheapest I have seen a winter tyre for 20 inch rims is £250 a tyre and there was only one option to choose from.
