My experience is they do give a harsher ride and because they to not cushion shock, they wear out quicker than rubber. Also the design of poly bushes is much more critical than rubber ones and if committed to fitting them you need to find a very good design. Of course they are not OEM and so have not had the hundreds of millions of development cash thrown at them. I was disappointed and went back to OEM. It's OK for track cars with low mileage, smooth surfaces and no expectation of comfort.
