Just went for a drive in my Mini and it reminded me why I bought it. Absolutely brilliant fun...no, make that FUN. Beautiful steering, flat cornering, sweet little triple engine, wonderful gear change and 50mpg plus with its neck wrung on b roads. Have only had the opportunity to take a solo drive like this a few times and can't think of any other car at the mini price range or sector that is such a consumate handler. But. That's about three times I have done this. In almost three years. And it also highlights its stuff suspension, lack of refinement, lack of cruise etc.... Now, is it worth swapping my smile for comfort, that comfort being applicable for about 99% of my journeys...food for thought!!

Edit, my other contender had been a 2 series coupe or 1 series three door harch, they use the same engines as the mini and are said to be wonderfully tactile handlers.

What mini have you got? I’m looking at the first gen Cooper S as our run around car and have been told they are great fun to drive.
