Damn right
Maybe speak to a dealership and see if they can do you some investigation time. Most places charge an hour's labor but can (and often do, in my experiences) do much more than an hour's work chasing faults.
Edit: just re-reading your op makes me lean more towards the fuel pump, as they're linked with the unlocking of the car so that the system is primed and at pressure to allow easy starting on pressing the button. (That's why, if you misfuel at the pumps, they say do not unlock your car if it's locked, as that'll prime the system with mixed fuel, making the repair harder)
