Hi. S40 1.8 petrol 2005.
Runs smooth but idles at 1400 rpm when cold up to 1700 when warmed up. Drives smooth but when stopped in traffic idle will jump to 3000rpm for about 5 seconds before coming down to 1700. Intermittantly will then misfire at low revs but this cleares when restarted. It could recur again shortly after. But always runs smooth on open road.
Cleaned throttle, fitted new throttle gasket. Checked vacuum hoses. Cleaned elec connectors. Accellerator is always delayed coming down by about 3 or 4 seconds. Could low octane unleaded be a cause. 95 ron is standard here in Kerry? Any suggestions?
