This has been the case since the foot sensor opening was first offered on the SPA cars.
It’s happened to me several times - best thing to do is put the key in one of the door pockets whilst loading/unloading the boot.

Trouble is, when I have finished putting the cable away, I then lock the car using the button in the boot. How long before I lock my key in the car!
