My dad has been very busy working on the rust repairs.

He has had the carpets up, hoovered a lot of leaves out of the sills inside and welded up loads of rot holes that he has found. He has also sprayed dinitrol ML down all the sills and chassis rails internally, painted the welds, put a very thick layer of stonechip over it all and has waxoyl to go over the top.

The front passenger footwell had a bulge in the carpet, my dad pulled it up and found a massive bubble of rust which when looked ended up like this over the jacking point/chassis rail.

A few patches on both sills welded up and stone chipped (no photos of the repairs)

The rear seat squab was lifted, broken glass, Lego and filth was hoovered up and cleaned, the plugs were removed and again dinitrol was sprayed heavily inside. The nozzle has several holes in all directions so it sprays out in a fan to spray in all directions.

I then adjusted the bonnet release cable, it has about 3 inches of slack in it! So I had to remove the cable from the release mechanism and then pull it taught, feed it back through the hole and then bend it over. It was then a bit too tight so I slackened off the three mounting bolts and it moved a bit from the tension. I tightened the bolts and tested and it worked perfectly so now I have finally fitted the grille back in place permanently.
