Yes, these sound like sarcastic responses but many moons ago had these responses when viewing an absolute basket-case of a car - i later found out the seller had a reputation for using these excuses to sell rust buckets.

Unfortunately, technically they're true.

Sorry to hear you've had a wasted journey and thanks for sharing about it though.
