I have to say my rear handbreak shoes are genuine Volvo, (as are the non standard Volvo adjusters), but all work fine. Even more criticism I guess..

Your right you will be criticised when the genuine gang see this. Mine is exactly like yours. I agree with everything you just said.
The volvo specialist near me said to do exactly what you done.
Its good to hear sensible knowledge beyond your xc90 will fall apart if you don't use genuine.
