Can you take the other half of the connector from the scrap speakers you are replacing and just make up your own adaptor to the appropriate sized spade terminals?
That would save cutting the cables, which may be the other option, but be careful, some speakers have 2 connections in parallel.
One pair of wires "in" and one pair "out" - to the nearby tweeter
