I'd refer back to Clan's initial post and suggest a split pipe to the intercooler/intake system or a loose clamp.
I had this a long time ago I had a MAF error, engine system service required and no boost, I don't know the codes though. The codes could be cleared and it would drive fine for a while until I hit a certain bend on my drive, a split in a large intercooler hose was the cause.
Perhaps the split grows under pressure so smoke isn't escaping during your test?
