Just get a dealer service next time its due. You're doubtless recoiling in horror at the suggesion, but youll get an automatic software update and £200 worth of Volvo Assist. Thats why I stick with the dealer rather than Hortons (who can do software uodates) - it would cost more for Hortons to service it and then buy the breakdown cover separately than just chucking the keys at the dealer.
I bought the car from Hortons - who serviced it before I bought it. It won't be due again until March. I got the distinct impression from Graham at Hortons that the software update was not a big deal and they wouldn't bother doing it.

Having had my last three Volvos (company cars) serviced and software upgraded at main dealers, I am not so sure - hence my question!

I would rather pay a local dealer £70 (or similar) to update the software so I get optimum performance before the next service is due.
