I appreciate the replies and the variation is interesting from the fit and forget to the pain I suspected of buying parts and not fitting. Clearly Volvo are buying in sub quality from the original fit just to fill the parts bin. TIG weld fabrication sounds an interesting option but probably not ready for the learning cuve yet (even though I have a TIG welder)

I will fit some new rear springs as the bottom is getting a bit saggy, if and when I do it myself. I will get it done just needed some guidance, I'll ponder and make a decision, time on my side it hasn't fallen off and not making horrendous noise ..yet.
