I am not so interested in keeping the engine bay original. I drive the car relatively hard and have set up the car for handling; to be enjoyed around the twisty roads. It has Bilstein shocks and progressive rate springs etc.
I want the car to stop well. I am since spoken to Brook house volvo and they stock the genuine Lockheed servo which apparently gives a sharper brake feel. I would like to avoid a recon unit as some of you have said, I would not know how good it has been re built. I would prefer to buy a new item and the Lockheed unit is cheaper than an original rebuilt one.
Also, since removing the drums I have found the shoes to be in an awful state. Cracked etc.
Does anyone have experience in which are the best brake shoes and pads for these cars. I believe you can buy an upgraded shoe and pad with modern compound that further improves braking.
