Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your knowledge Clan. I had an issue identical to that of the OP. The car was going to the dealer anyway for other reasons so I asked them to check it out and mentioned the TB, typically they said nothing wrong with it (no doubt without actually looking). When I took it off it was easy to push it shut and it would stay shut until you gave it a pretty strong knock on the side.
Got a new one from Volvo for £67+VAT and it has been fine ever since.
