I have run my 2004 D5 since new on pretty much any diesel that is cheapest at the time (motly supermarket) an now after 170k miles it still runs well and is clean at the exhaust. However I also believe in letting the engine run through the rev range on a regular basis and am sure this keeps the exhaust as clean as it is. Personally I see no point in the extra additives as the fuel companies put plenty in anyway.
