Sometimes it will stop, and refuse to re-start until it has 'rested' a minute. Almost like the engine is 'flooded'; but didn't think one could 'flood' a diesel?
Tried driving with transmission in manual as the gear changes are sometime jerky too; and while it could be 'forced' to run; it was not happy at all.
No warning lights. No other symptoms.
Vehicle serviced, and no warning of the symptom starting. Has been fine until now when this suddenly occurred.

Got the vehicle home, and took it for a test drive on level quiet roads, and managed to get the symptoms to lessen; but it would still sometimes die, especially when changing gears, or if I back off on the throttle.

Vehicle off road now, so safe. Just want to know what this could be? Is it part of the engine recall issue Volvo had? https://www.whatcar.com/news/volvo-r...e-fears/n19820

Any thoughts greatly received.

I know you mentioned the car has been serviced, but has the fuel filter been changed?
